A Padawan was the title of an apprentice of a Jedi Knight or MasterMaster. They would be taught the ways of a Force and after they completed their training, would win the rank of Jedi Knight. They usually wore a small braid on the right to signify their Padawan status. However, notable exclusions were Luke Skywalker, Ezra Bridger and Rey Palpatine due to them not being raised as a Padawan in the Jedi temple.
Padawans usually learned to control the Light side of the Force.
